Media Mover Talk

Stephen Musgrave from Capellic was kind enough to video my talk at Drupal Camp a few weeks ago. I attempted (and succeeded!) to install the full Media Mover suite in under an hour, along with an introduction to the theory behind Media Mover. Check it out!

Just got back from Drupal Camp NYC 4, where I did a session on settings up advanced video functionality on Drupal in an hour. In the span of the session I installed Drupal, installed a handful of modules, and got a site that lets users upload video to their site, transcodes it and deposits the file on Amazon's S3 site. While nothing new in terms of functionality for Media Mover, it is always a bit unnerving when you do something live.

The ever explanding Media Mover universe
In the ever expanding world of Media Mover modules, I finally put together a quick module that handles some of the basic configuration of the JW Flash player. Largely, this helps reduce installation time as no custom theming is required to get the flash player on the page if you're using XSPF Playlist for your content delivery.

In the past few months, I've spent a bit of time writing Drupal modules that are designed to have other modules interact with them. In some instances to add content, change configuration, modify display, or participate in module processes. Writing modules that do this turns out to be frighteningly easy. With Drupal, even more so.

The Media Mover suite of modules has just gotten better with some improvements that I just released to the XSPF Playlist module. Media Mover now offers an end to end process for accepting media to getting it live on a Drupal site and integrating it with a flash video player.
Vermont Towns Vote to Impeach

Once again, Vermont takes it's self assigned iconoclastic position. On town meeting day this year (remember direct democracy?), almost thirty towns voted for Bush's impeachment. From the Times Argus, Montpelier's local paper:
Nearly 30 Vermont towns have called for President Bush's impeachment on charges that he and Vice President Dick Cheney misled the country into war with Iraq and violated the Constitution.
