DrupalCon Boston 2008 Housing
If you're still looking for a DrupalCon hotel, check out the Milner Boston Hotel which is the best deal available and about as close to the Boston Convention Center that you can get. Be sure to use their website and get the web special $109 ($122 after taxes) per night!
I can't vouch for the hotel, this will be my first stay. They have free internet and free breakfast. The only downside I see is that they advertise "Quaint European Style Rooms", which means small.
I put this map together while researching hotels. The purple dots are for the Milner and the Boston Convention Center. The two green dots are the Convention Hotels. And the blue dots are for other reasonably priced hotels. (All prices include taxes.)

I stayed at the Milner about 6 years ago. From what I remember it was reasonably clean, and the room was miniscule. I mean, really, really small. But it's in a great location (though it's really about 3 blocks to the subway, not 1 like they say on their site). I'll be staying there as well, just made a reservation. There are a lot of really lousy on-line reviews of the hotel, but my memory was that it was okay for the price.
There used to be Milner hotels all over the US - it was pretty much the first hotel chain in the country. "A room and a bath for a buck and a half" was their slogan for quite a while.
Ha! Thanks for your review. I guess we'll meet you there!
Searching for "A room and a bath for a buck and a half", I found this article. Which makes me wonder if you confused 'milner' for 'milton' or 'statler'. Very interesting nevertheless.
