DrupalCon Session: Scalable Theming: Theming for 100s of node types, CCK fields, and views

One of my 3 DrupalCon Session Proposals got accepted and was scheduled last week: Scalable Theming: Theming for 100s of node types, CCK fields, and views.

Advanced theming tips, tricks and techniques for very large complex websites with many node types, CCK fields and views. This session is targeted at themers & developers wishing to learn how to manage complex theming requirements in a cost-saving, maintainable and scalable way.

At this stage, it is likely that it will be the last session on Wednesday afternoon in the Design and UX track, from [TIMES]. However check the programme at DrupalCon to confirm this.

I plan to discuss the themer's role, how it is different to the roles of developer and visual/graphic designer, what the scalability and maintainability issues of theming are, and provide tips, tricks and real-world examples on managing these issues and a theme layer's code base. Examples will be from CivicActions' client sites that I have themed, including;

I have considerable experience in complex theming, but by no-means know-it-all. So I plan to have the session taper off into discussion about areas I have less experience with (such as manage-ably theming forms), Q&A and finally, making complex themes even easier to manage in drupal 7 and beyond.

Please feel free to comment with ideas, contributions or requests below.
