Finding good people
I've been getting to know a lot of really amazing people lately as I've been talking with some very talented web professionals about putting their technical talent to work on some of the greatest challenges of our time - climate change, human rights, clean water, the creative commons and countless others - all needing not only innovative and reliable web solutions, but also using Drupal as a requirement.
The reasons Non-profit choose Drupal are compelling:
- it's free
- exponentially extensive functionality
- geometrically improving usability
- and incrementally improving documentation. Argument, perhaps for a more reasoned release schedule.
As someone who passionately cares about the need for positive change in the world, it gets discouraging sometimes to think about what WE are up against. But meeting people like the folks I've been talking to has been really helpful in realizing that we are not, in fact, alone.
And as someone who is excited about how technology is changing things, I actually am hopeful about the future.
It's clear to me that Drupal's updraft in the market has created a lot of opportunity for people with Drupal chops. I have to add Dries to my growing list of people who make my digital life possible. Craig Newmark occupying the top slot, for sure.
