Media Mover- Stable is coming fast
Media Mover is a rich media batch processing engine that was initially developed several of CivicActions' clients. Currently deployed on several of our client's sites (most prominently on the Hub and ACLU.tv) Media Mover has served a niche for video content manipulation.
Over the past year, numerous improvements have been made to the suite of modules, adding FTP and local directory support, integration with the Asset module, workflow NG, email harvesting, integration with Amazon's S3 service and more. I just announced the latest addition which enables administrators to choose specific configurations to run when users add or update content on their sites. This makes Media Mover a bit more attractive for sites who need priority on their content.
I hoped that the 1.0 release of Media Mover would be June of this year. It's August now, but we're on Alpha 3 and tonnes of functionality made it in that I didn't really anticipate:
- major re factoring of the core code
- improvements on the configuration screen
- import/export system
- lots of improvements to the module set
Additionally, with XSPF Playlist getting significant attention from Nedjo and the overhaul I did to FLV Media Player, the helper modules are really getting into shape. I'm still holding out for a stable release of Media Mover and all the related modules before Drupalcon. You can keep up to date on the latest developments on my Media Mover announcements.
