Drupal Search Series
Submitted by doug on September 15, 2007 - 4:35am.
Making it easy for users to find content easily, is one of the most important aspects of any large site. Drupal knows that search is important. Google, who indexes the entire internet, often provides faster and more reliable results, than the Drupal search engine.
I've been working in Drupal full time for about a year now, and searching has become my pet project. I've written five search related modules and submitted numerous patches to core search. Yet this has just scratched the surface.
This series of articles was motivated by and written fo my upcoming DrupalCon presentation, and will focus on much of the same content:
- Drupal Node Search: Overview and Filter Link Technique
- Drupal Core Search SQL: making it faster
- Writing a Drupal search module: with an example module for searching the World's Libraries (coming soon)
- A better search interface - part 1 - The views solution (coming soon)
- A better search interface - part 2 - Replacing the Drupal search box (coming soon)
- A cursory review of available Drupal Search solutions (coming soon)

Well, it's obvious now that this series was too ambitious and won't get finished. However, if you are interested in Drupal Search, you can find all my articles on Drupal Search, which includes the Drupal Minnesota Search Sprint.
