Summer Interns: CivicActions Virtual Activists House in Berkeley

I just had a crazy idea. Maybe we should rent a house in Berkeley for the summer and bring in four interns to organize virtual actions for a number of our clients?

We've got several who are interested in online virtual activism. A number of these clients (WITNESS, Public Interest Pictures, IONS, FSF, MediaCow) have incredibly important material (and activities) that need to be exposed to a large online audience.

Last summer, we had great success by bringing in Lev Rickards, from Paul Resnicks School of Information program at the University of Michigan. He was an absolute pleasure to work with, and was extremely effective at hitting the ground running and providing measurable results in our DefectiveByDesign campaign against DRM for the Free Software Foundation.

Perhaps we should step it up this summer and setup a small group, provide some coaching (and clients), and see what we can accomplish?

Add some cameras and we've got a channel for MediaCow!
"What happens when you put four young, smart, passionate activists in a house in Berkeley for a summer and they stop being polite and start making real change happen with technology!"

Maybe we could import Magical Martin to keep the party rocking 24x7!

I've had a few good preliminary conversations with clients regarding this idea, so we're moving forward with a specific plan.

If you know of any college students that would be interested in joining us for the summer, please have them go to our contact form and send us a note.
