Jim Hightower Roadmap

Our first project for Jim Hightower's organization was a strategic plan for redeploying Hightower's web properties. JimHightower.com is Jim's official website, used to disseminate information about his speaking engagements, his books and audio products, as well as his daily audio commentaries. HightowerLowdown.com is the website for the Hightower Lowdown print newsletter.

In addition we began to look at an idea that Jim and his partner in the Lowdown, Phillip Frazer, had: creating a clearing house website of corporate responsibility information combined with robus community and activist tools.

We began the engagement with two days of creative sessions during which Henri Poole lead the client through visioning and brainstorming activities to get help both the client and us get an idea of where the client wanted to go over the next year.

The CivicActions team developed a series of user scenarios for each website, as well as site maps and features sets. We developed proposals and work plans for the JimHightower.com and HightowerLowdown.org sites during this project and began to develop an image of what the activist site could look like, the features and tools it could deploy. Gregory Heller began conversations with other organizations working in corporate social responsibility sectors about developing an RDF library to facilitate the interchange of CSR data between organizations.

The JimHightower.com and HightowerLowdown.org websites have now been launched. See the JimHightower.com full project description.

Our entire team feels lucky, and privileged to work with a client with whom we are so aligned, around political issues, social responsibility, the environment, peace and the economy. Hightower tells it like it is and doesn't pull any punches, and he does it all with a sensible wit that is nearly universal, and we like that.
