170 Million Americans
American Public Media (APM) approached CivicActions in November 2010 to produce a campaign site to highlight public media and its funding in the USA , attract partner public media stations — to date over 250 stations have signed up — and encourage users to show their support for public media.
Henry Poole, provided strategic support to APM, thinking through the site goals and messaging.
Chuck Spidell worked with the APM team to produce a stunning and compelling website design and additional graphic assets to be used by partner stations.
Sumit Kataria put all the pieces together and brought his awesome technical-chops to the table.
Justine Hirsch provided project management and quality assurance support and ensured the project stayed on track.
The website was started, completed and launched within 2 weeks of kickoff and to date has a conversion rate for users completing the sign up form of over 52%.
We established at project outset that the 170 Million Americans campaign website was going to receive significant traffic and therefore constructed the site keeping high traffic and high page views in mind. To achieve integrated performance and scalability we used Pressflow at its core. The site relies heavily on contributed modules including:
- Webform: To implement sign up form and block widget
- Views: To display news blocks and feed
- Embed Widgets: To share custom banner widgets from site
- FPSS: Famous front page slide show library and fpss module to build home page sideshow
- Magazeen: Amazing magazeen as base theme
- Forward: To implement e-postcard functionality
CivicActions is continuing to work with American Public Media to integrate additional functionality into the site and provide technical and strategic support as needed.
