How Drupal Stacks Up

Curious how well Drupal compares to other Content Management Systems?

Or see Michael Haggerty's #10 reason (on the Drupal Consulting) list:

"10) Drupal is Fun - Let's face it, you don't get people volunteering to work on a CMS without there being something to make them want to. I have worked within other communities centered around software platforms and never found one as intreaguing as this. There's a whole political-technology-social aspect to working on drupal that is a big change from the whole corporate-profit-sustainability vibe with other platforms. Even Mambo, up until recently, was mainly controlled by a single corporate entity. There are times it feels like drupal is changing the way people think about CMS, and the people in the community around the project make it more than just some web application."

I have posted some more videos over at YouTube.com and rather than posting them all inline here, you can just go over there and watch them.

Decompressing from the OSCMS Summit

I have just gotten back to Seattle from the Open Source CMS Summit / Drupal Con. My head is bursting with ideas. And it is going to take a few days to get all the ideas in order, but here is a quick list of interesting things that I will come back to in later blog posts:

Drupal Guild: lots of conversation about the Drupal Guild, about Drupal Foundation, Drupal Developer Meetings, Drupal Trainings, etc... I talked with Zack from CSL and others about moving forward on some fronts. (Rich and I will be working with Zack on a Drupal Service Provider listing)

Actioncast with Sarah Pullman about Geek Yoga

One of the more pleasant surprises at the OSCMS Summit was the Yoga for Geeks session led by Sarah Pullman (who I met at Web of Change 2005. The Elevator Cast format came in a flash, but there is not always an elevator around, so I came up with the idea of a Staircast, but then sometimes you just want to talk someone and not go up the stairs or down the stairs, so what to call them? I am trying out the name "ActionCasts".

Staircast with Kaliya Hamlin

There was no good elevator at UBC Robson Square, so I interviewed Kaliya Hamlin on the way down the stairs to Geek Yoga.

Yet another Elevatorcast (with Allie and Moshe)

After dinner last night I had the opportunity to talk to Rich about his Slurpee.

Elevator Cast with Jarah from FresnoFamous.com

Rich and I took a minute to talk with Jarah from FresnoFamous.com. I could tell you what it is, but I'll let Jarah do that!
