Way We Work: Using Jott for Reminders
"Who do you want to Jott?"
These simple six words have changed my life.
About four months ago, I found Jott.com, a simple and free service that lets me dictate messages into my cell phone that are transcribed instantly into txt and emails. However, the best part is these same messages can be time-delayed and you can have the Jott service send a reminder (i.e. "tomorrow at 5pm") straight to your phone.
Given that I often find myself in the car or on the run, Jott has become one of my most used tools and provides just the perfect blend of simplicity with stellar technology.
Newsweek: Is User-Generated Content Out?
Newsweek reports that the same entrepreneurs who funded the "user-generated revolution" are now looking to professionals to edit and produce online content.
Are we at a turning-point with the "wisdom of the crowds" and moving to a more trusted and refined Web?

Obama's Technology Policy Document
Barack Obama's campaign released an ambitious technology document (PDF) that outlines quite a few exciting new specific proposals addressing the future of the Web.
Jon Stokes of Arstechnica lays out the details well in his article. Here are the summarized bullet points:
* Ensure the full and free exchange of information among Americans through an open Internet and diverse media outlets.
* Create a transparent and connected democracy.
* Encourage the deployment of a modern communications infrastructure.
* Employ technology and innovation to solve our nation's most pressing problems, including reducing the costs of health care, encouraging the development of new clean energy sources, and improving public safety.
* Improve America’s technology competitiveness
* Full support of network neutrality legislation
* Obama decries media consolidation and pledges to "encourage diversity" in media ownership
* Proposes the creation of a modern, online answer to Sesame Street called Public Media 2.0
* Privacy and safeguards against abuse
* National broadband policy and opening up the wireless spectrum to fresh competition
* H1B reform
* Investments in basic science and R&D

Women and Drupalcon: 7%
It was noted on the first day of Drupalcon that 93% of attendees are men. After talking with a couple of
other women working with CivicActions, I decided it was worth setting up a Birds of a Feather session: The Other 7% - Women and Drupal.
At lunch time today, about 12 of us met up and it was great to meet some women in the community whose names I see regularly online like karens,webchick, add1sun, Allie Micka. We took some time to introduce ourselves and discussed how to encourage more women to join the Drupal community.

Anonymous Wikipedia Edits? Not When You Know FOX's IP Address
No longer are corporations or congressmen anonymous when white-washing their wikipedia pages.
Now with WikiScanner by Virgil, IP addresses are the public's smoking-gun and are creating public relations disasters, one company at a time.
